Meticulous development of James Dyson’s design prototype + flexible operations for 80-plus countries
Dyson is one of the UK’s top ten fastest-growing brands [see BRANDZ™ THE UK’s TOP PERFORMING BRANDS 2019] and a prestigious world leader in the design and manufacture of highly innovative domestic appliances and other household technology. A custom uniform looking great and totally fit for purpose was therefore seen by the company’s founder James Dyson as imperative to the brand and business success of its retail operations in over 80 countries worldwide.
jSD was appointed to develop and manufacture the Dyson uniform, working with James Dyson’s own meticulous prototype of a staff shirt.
Key to meeting this project’s demanding expectations was jSD’s understanding of three critical areas of designing uniforms and other custom workwear.
1] Job-specific body kinetics in the retail sector, leading to the use of advanced stretch fabric in critical areas of garment stress.
2] Cross-cultural design considerations of wearer well-being, including differing Asian and International fits.
3] Meticulous attention to signature design details, including distinctive glow in the dark Dyson branding for these immaculate minimal shirts.
Dyson’s global logistics required jSD’s operations to be meticulously custom designed too. jSD adapted, integrated and optimised its smart predictive stock control and international supply chain to work seamlessly and cost-efficiently with Dyson’s own retail logistics, software and local storage hubs across international markets.
Our inventive partnership with Dyson reflects the core jSD belief. one size does not fit all. and this is true for the client’s brand, their staff and their operations.
