Week 3: My Uniform Doesn’t Allow Me to Express Myself (uniforms with choice)

Hotel Uniform

In the 21st century, the importance of the individual and freedom of expression has been drummed into our heads from a very young age. Our differences are something to be celebrated, not hidden nor denied. To that end, a uniform may appear to be, on the surface, the very antithesis of individuality.

A company seeking to ensure employee satisfaction, while upholding a certain brand look and identity, can embrace an employee’s freedom of expression by implementing a flexible uniform policy. Offering options to the employee can go a long way in terms of creating a work environment that embraces the uniform and has the ability to still incorporate choice in that framework.

One style really does not suit all . We are all so different in shape and size , much more so than when JSD was first founded 40 years ago . Some of us are curvier and some are straighter with average waist sizes considerably bigger than in the 80’s.  A well designed uniform, using stretch fabrics and a select choice of styles to suit those differences can be a huge advantage for the wearer, giving employees some flexibility in terms of how they accessorise and wear a corporate uniform can also go a long way in creating a positive and productive work environment.
