NUFFIELD HEALTH UNIFORMS

Private hospital provider Nuffield embarked on a major upgrade to create ultra-modern locations with a five-star hotel aesthetic — all within a professional and caring environment for patients and their families.

As part of this transformation, corporate workwear became an integral element of the rebrand. The same uniform designs had been in place for over a decade, and staff feedback revealed they no longer felt confident or comfortable wearing them.

JSD won the contract to design and supply new uniforms for receptionists and administrative staff across 30 hospitals, ensuring every garment aligned with Nuffield’s focus on care, quality and sustainable healthcare uniforms.

To meet the client’s request for a five-star look, our JSD design team created a formal three-piece suit uniform — shirt and tie with waistcoat and jacket for front of house. The classic grey marl herringbone poly/wool/lycra tailoring combines with crisp white diagonal stripe shirting; an accent of colour — Nuffield green with silver and white — is carried through into scarves and ties.

The entire range launched over a two-week period across 30 hospitals and for all front of house staff. The immediate response to the new designs — from them, their colleagues and patients — was immensely positive.

We remain contracted with Nuffield, and the range has evolved since that first launch to include a slim-line dress. JSD also consulted with the Matrons (effectively the Managing Directors of each hospital) to create their own bespoke corporate wear range. The Matrons had previously worn their own garments, and it took time to reach a consensus on a design that suited all — a process that mirrored our collaborative approach across sectors including gym and health club uniforms.
